Method for Optimizing Quantitative Temporal Lobe Epilepsy MR Imaging
University of Calgary. DOI 10.11575/PRISM/5418
In brief
Standard MRI can miss the subtle hippocampal changes behind temporal lobe epilepsy. This thesis develops a leaner stimulated echo correction for T2 relaxometry and tests it on simulated and patient data, with the goal of making those lesions easier to find.
Key findings
- Up to 27% lower variance than the original stimulated echo correction
- More reliable classification of abnormal hippocampal regions
- The groundwork for the 2019 MAGMA paper
